Topic: “THE SIGNIFICANCE OF HIS RESURRECTION POWER – OUR OWN RESURRECTION”
Text: 1 Thess 4:13-18
Memory Verse: “Behold, I tell you a mystery: We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed – in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we shall be change” – 1Cor 15:51-52 (NKJV).
The power of Christ’s resurrection holds promise both for the present life and the life hereafter. The moment anyone gives his life to Christ by being born again, he immediately experiences a new birth as a result of the indwelling of the Holy Spirit. His Spirit Man is transformed into a new creation (1Cor 5:17) and continues to live by faith in Christ Jesus (Gal 2:20).
However, because flesh and blood cannot inherit the Kingdom of God (1Cor15:50), there remains the need to experience the power of Christ’s resurrection for our transition into eternity with God.
Accordingly, we have the promise of God that all who believe in Christ will be transformed from their mortal bodies into immortal ones. At the resurrection of Jesus, He received a glorified body. In the same manner, we will also be resurrected in a glorified body just like His, at the last trumpet. What an awesome experience that will be!
“Beloved, now we are children of God; and it has not yet been revealed what we shall be, but we know that when He is revealed, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is.” 1John 3:2.
As Christians, we too are acquainted with grief following the loss of loved ones. But much more, we know that such a loss amongst us is merely a temporal separation, for there will yet be a great reunion with all who have died in Christ, at His appearing. For such, even though painful, we need not mourn like the unbelievers who have no hope.
Are you walking consciously and looking forward to that resurrection morning when the trump of God shall sound? Make known also to others the saving grace of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, so that they too can come and partake in this glorious resurrection.
PRAYER: As I eagerly await the resurrection morning, Lord, please help me to be an effective witness of your saving grace to all around me, in Jesus’ name, Amen.
