TOPIC: “WALKING IN FAVOUR”
TEXT: Luke 2:48-52
MEMORY VERSE: “And Jesus increased in wisdom and in stature and in favour with God” – Luke 2:52 (ESV).
Jesus as a child developed the art of walking in alignment with God. When He was twelve years old, He was already at His father’s business which He confirmed when His parents eventually saw Him three days after they had searched for Him. He asked his parents, “Did you not know that I must be in my father’s house? Though the parents did not understand these things that were happening, His mum treasured them in her heart. The scriptures record that Jesus increased in wisdom, stature and in favour with God and man.
A man that walks in alignment with God will definitely walk in favour and continue to increase in favour. Favour is privilege or uncommon opportunity you receive not because you are the smartest, the best, or that you did something special that earned you favour rather, it is because people are specially drawn to you to help or assist you. This happens when the way of a man pleases the Lord according to the book of Proverbs 16:7 which says “When a man’s way pleases the LORD, he maketh even his enemies to be at peace with him.
This implies that when you walk in alignment with God, both enemies and friends must favour you. Although in relation to favour with God you do not work for it however, there is a way you position yourself that God decides to show you favour and make others favour you too. If we look at the order according to our text for today, it is favour first with God before it flows down to men. Therefore, if a man does not receive favour from God, he cannot receive favour from men,
The reason Jesus walked in favour and increased in favour with God and men continually when He was a child and during His earthly ministry was because He knew God and walked in alignment with Him. A life void of favour is an indication that the individual’s alignment with God is questionable. Does your way please the Lord? Is it in alignment with God? If No, you need to ask God for help to live your life in such a way that it will please Him.
PRAYER: Father, help me walk in your favour all the days of my life in Jesus’ name, Amen.
