Topic: “NOW WHAT DO YOU SAY?”
Text: John 8:1-11
Memory Verse: “ Romans 8:1 “Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.”
“There are probably so many kinds of voices in the world, and none of them is without significance.” 1 Cor. 14:10 (KJV).
Of the many voices in the world, are the VOICE OF CONDEMNATION and the VOICE OF MERCY. The devil who specialises in accusing God’s children day and night before God’s throne has condemnation and destruction as his chief tasks. His voice is heard when judgements are passed on people who are caught in any form of wrongdoing. As much as God does not condone unrighteousness, he desires that, we who have received his love, be agents of spreading His love.
Today’s scriptural account teaches the practicality of God’s love when the woman caught in adultery was brought to Jesus. The accusers of this woman were not only judgmental but also crafty. They desired to trap Jesus as well as use this woman as a scape goat. The devil will not spare anyone whom he finds guilty and condemnable, but thanks be to God who through His love, delivers us from his schemes. (1 Cor. 15:57).
The power of God’s love is redemptive and never condemning. The voice of His Love and mercy swallows the voice of condemnation and accusation of the devil. The love of God does hate sin, but not the sinner. His love looks past all the wrong doings and inputs his righteousness when the sinner acknowledges his unrighteousness and repents. The Power of God’s love invites us to be repentant and be considerate at the same time. We must not close the door of God’s eternal life against any, but seek to bring others in by showing the same love we have received.
Have you made mistakes and fallen into sin? Hear the voice of His love and not the voice of the accuser today, his voice is saying to you: “come back home.”
PRAYER: Father, let your voice of restoration and love speak over all areas of my life and cover me against the piercing voice of the accuser, Amen.
