Topic: “THE LOVE OF A BURDEN BEARER – 2”
Text: Matthew 11:28-30
Memory Verse: “Cast your cares on the Lord and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous fall.” Psalm 55:22.
The love of Jesus carried weights that humans cannot bear or carry. Yesterday, we started to examine some of these weights. Other weights will be examined today.
Another weight that Jesus by his love carried was the weight of suffering. These weights are sorrows, griefs and all weaknesses. Isaiah 53:4 says, “Surely, He has borne our griefs and carried our sorrows; yet we esteemed Him stricken, smitten by God, and afflicted” (NKJV). He did not only carry our suffering but exchanged them for strength and comfort. Matthew 11:28 says “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”
The weight of poverty is another one that Jesus carried for us. 2 Cor 8:9 says, “For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, so that you through his poverty might become rich.” Jesus did not only carry the weight of poverty for us, but also gave us his riches as a result of his love. What a burden bearer with a difference.
Are you still carrying these burdens when they have been carried for you? Surrender the burden to Jesus today and experience his joy and peace. Do not let the devil place on you, the burden that Jesus has already carried for you. 1 Peter 5:7 says, “Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.”
PRAYER: Jesus, I come to you with every load of care, I lay them all at your feet. I am free of any burden that bothers me today in Jesus’ name, Amen.
