Topic: “BLOODLINE: TRACING THE LEGACY OF JESUS’ SACRIFICE”
Text: Galatians 4:4-5
Memory Verse: “For such an High Priest became us, who is Holy, harmless, undefiled, separated from sinners, and made higher than the heavens” – Heb 7:26.
Today’s devotional examines the genealogy of Jesus and how his sacrifice is the culmination of God’s plan of redemption, tracing the bloodlines of salvation. The bible speaks of a divine bloodline, a lineage of faith that stretches from Abraham to Jesus Christ. This bloodline is marked by sacrifice, obedience and redemption. In this devotional, we will explore the legacy of Jesus’ sacrifice and how it has impacted humanity.
The bloodline of Jesus began with Abraham, who was called by God to be the father of a new nation. Abraham’s faith and obedience were tested when he was asked to sacrifice his son Isaac. This event foreshadows the ultimate sacrifice of Jesus Christ, who would give His life to redeem humanity.
The bloodline continues through the Israelites, who were delivered from slavery in Egypt through the sacrifice of the Passover Lamb. This event was a precursor to the ultimate Passover sacrifice, through Christ, who would give His life to deliver humanity from the slavery of sin.
The legacy of Jesus’ sacrifice is one of redemption, forgiveness, and adoption. Through this sacrifice, we have been redeemed from the curse of sin and adopted as sons and daughters of God. We have been given a new identity, a new family, and a new destiny, hallelujah!
As we reflect on the bloodline of Jesus, let us remember and honour the legacy of Jesus by living a life of faith, obedience, and sacrifice.
PRAYER: Dear heavenly father, thank you for giving me a new identity, family and destiny in Jesus’ name, Amen.
