Topic: HONOURING GOD IN THANKSGIVING FOR OUR SALVATION
Text: Acts. 9:1-9
Memory Verse: And he fell to the ground and heard a voice saying to him, “Saul, Saul, why do you persecute me?” and he said, “who are you, Lord?” And he said, “I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting.” Acts 9:4,5a.
Man became separated from God when sin entered the world because of disobedience. God tried to reconcile man to Himself through judges, prophets and kings. The more God tried, the more man moved away from Him. Eventually, God executed His plan by sending His son to come into the world, so that whoever believes in Him will not perish but will have eternal life. (John 3:16). Our part is to believe in Jesus, because He has paid the debt of our sins.
How do we honour God for saving us from going to hell? I believe that what will gladden God and Jesus Christ most is to expand His kingdom here on earth – The Great Commission (Matthew 28:19, 20). How involved are you in the expansion of God’s kingdom? It is a concern that should attract the attention of every Christian.
Another way of honouring God in thanksgiving is to love one another as God has loved us. It is the signal to the world that we are followers of Jesus Christ (John 13:34, 35). Love is the word that everybody wants and understands. How much of God’s love are we giving to the world? Christ will be honoured in thanksgiving if we live as children of light. Jesus Christ is the light of the world (Matthew 5: 14). Christ has called us out of darkness into His marvelous light, so let us beam that light to the world. (1 Peter 2:9, 10).
Furthermore, God has made each us who calls on His name to be somebody we are nobody. What type of life would I have been living, if not for Christ? Paul says, “But by the grace of God I am what I am, and his grace toward me was not in vain. (1 Corinthian 15:10). May the grace of God not be in vain, as we honour Him in thanksgiving for saving us.
Prayer: My Lord, may your holy name be praised for saving me from hell, I am what I am today by your grace. Honour, glory be to you in Christ’s precious name. Amen.
