NOVEMBER 18: “THE DANGER OF INGRATITUDE – MISAPPROPRIATING GOD’S GLORY”

Topic: “THE DANGER OF INGRATITUDE – MISAPPROPRIATING GOD’S GLORY

Text: LUKE 17:17-18

Memory Verse: “I am the LORD: that is my name: and my glory will I not give to another, neither my praise to graven images” – Isa 42:8.

Chorus: All the glory must be to the Lord, for He is worthy of my praise, no man on earth should give glory to himself, for the glory must be to the Lord.

One of the dangers of ingratitude is misappropriating God’s glory to oneself. In today’s passage, Jesus emphasized that the nine did not return to give glory to God, in other words, they misappropriated God’s glory and this is dangerous.

God will not share His glory with man. What belongs to God belongs to Him alone and when we receive His mercies, favors, healings etc., we must return all the glory to Him. Isa 42:8 gives a good insight into why Jesus asked, “Where are the nine?” God is saying, “You received healing from me, and you have now gone to town without returning thanks as if to say you got healed by yourself”.

He will not share His glory with any man. Do not let your actions imply sharing God’s glory. When we pray and God answers, it is none of our efforts, not because we have prayed, not even, because we have fasted. It is solely due to God’s mercies and love and we must return to give him Thanks.
Let me ask you, what have you received from God lately? Have you returned to give Him thanks?

PRAYER: Lord, I thank you for your faithfulness over my life. Please forgive me in any way that I have misappropriated your glory, Amen.
