Topic: “THANKING GOD FOR HIS DELIVERANCE”
Text: Psalm 18:1-17
Memory Verse: “Psalm 18:6 – “In my distress I called upon the Lord, and cried unto my God: He heard my voice out of His temple and my cry came before Him even into His ears”.
Have you ever been in distress? Have you ever been in a dark side of your life? Whom did you call upon? II Samuel 22:29 “for thou art my lamp O Lord: and the Lord will lighten my darkness.
A lot of us have been through very difficult times in our lives. We tried to look for ways out of our challenges but everything seemed to fail. This Psalm of David points us to where we should go when we face the challenges of life especially from enemies. David was faced with the fear of death and he said he called on God in his distress and the Lord heard his cry and delivered him.
David lived through his own times of battles and dark times but he called on God and he told us that “the Lord delivered (him) from the hand of his enemies and from the hand of Saul”. David used those experiences to catalogue the faithfulness of God in his life, He was never short of words to praise God for His faithfulness in his life. The contemporary Christian is constantly in a battlefield. Someone once said that once you decide to leave the way of Satan and follow the way of Lord, that is when your problem starts. Satan and his cohorts are not happy about your new ways and they start to work against your progress and success in life.
You will start to experience those things that you never experienced before. The joy that we have is that Jesus said that He has not promised us a trouble free life, but He said in this world, we will face so many tribulations but we should be of good cheer because He has overcome the world for us.
Our life challenges must be catalysts that will bring us closer to our God. We must therefore be thankful to God for these challenges. We must always, be thankful to Him for being there for us to call unto in times of life’s challenges.
PRAYER: Father please give me the grace to appreciate your power more and more in my life. Let me be able to tell the world how great a God you are, Amen.
