Topic: “GOD’S THOUGHTS, OUR PROSPERITY: HE DOES NOT FORGET (1)“
Text: Haggai 2: 1-19
Memory Verse: Haggai 2: 19b. “From this day on I will bless you.”
Our God is a covenant keeper, whatever He has said to you, surely, He watches over it to perform it and bring it to pass. When we go through the seasons of life, we tend to forget that whatever has happened or will happen around us, does not in any way diminish the power of God in us to bring to pass His promises and purposes in our lives.
In our text for today, we see God reassuring the returning exiles in Judah, who were going through a period of immense discouragement. “Be strong, all you people of the land,’ declares the Lord, ‘and work. For I am with you,’ declares the Lord Almighty. This is what I covenanted with you when you came out of Egypt. And my Spirit remains among you. Do not fear” (vv4b-5).
His very thoughts for you from the beginning are of prosperity and peace. We stumble and we fall, but He does not withdraw His lovingkindness from us. He made us in His image, blessed us from the beginning and gave us dominion. No matter what you are going through right now, it does not matter how bleak and hopeless the situation may be, the Lord is saying to you today, as He spoke to the discouraged exiles, that His covenant of peace in Christ over you cannot be broken. His word for you today is that “From this day on I will bless you.”
PRAYER: Oh Lord, the One who sees me. Help me, for I am weary and I am very tired. Hear my prayers Oh Lord and let my cries come unto you in Jesus’ name, Amen.
