Topic: “GOD’S THOUGHTS CORRECT AND RESTORE (2)“
Text: Isaiah 55:6-8
Memory Verse: There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to flesh, but according to the Spirit. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death. Romans 8: 1-2.
Yesterday we started to look at one of the advantages of God’s thoughts in that they offer correction and restoration for us. We also saw that God does not condemn; it is devil that condemns so as to justify reasons for punishment. God continuously convicts to bring to light or awareness, sin, leading to correction, forgiveness and restoration. God is not interested in the death of a sinner; He loves the sinner and hates the sin. His thoughts have always been that when we fall into sin or error, we should take advantage of His available Grace to make correction.
In today’s text, the Lord is warning us not to walk in the flesh, but to make deliberate efforts to walk continuously in the Spirit. Apostle Paul advises in Galatians 5:16; “So I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh”. The flesh desires what is contrary to the Spirit. The acts of the flesh are listed in Galatians 5:2-21 as adultery, fornication, uncleanness, idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, jealousy, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, factions, envy, drunkenness, orgies or revelries, and other vices. To maintain intimacy with the Lord and benefit from God’s good thoughts towards us, you will need to repent from any known sin or from indulging in any of the acts listed above.
The plan of God for us is good and not evil, His thought is to give us expected end according to His will for us. Walking in the Spirit is facilitated by the “Fruits of the Spirit”. Galatians 5:22-23 is advising us to live by the Spirit and keeping in step with the Spirit through the Fruits of the Spirit, such as Love, Joy, Peace, Forbearance, Kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and Self-control. It is when you walk in the Spirit that you can escape the devil’s condemnation and align with God’s thoughts for you.
PRAYER: O Lord, help me to put to death, the desires of my flesh and give me the grace to continually manifest the fruits of the Spirit, in Jesus’ name, Amen.
