SEPTEMBER 07: “THE TRUE SOURCE OF POWER”

DATE: Monday 07 September  2026

TOPIC:  “THE TRUE SOURCE OF POWER”

TEXT:Luke 4:1-13, Deuteronomy 30:19

MEMORY VERSE:  “This day I call the heavens and the earth as witnesses against you that I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses. Now choose life, so that you and your children may live” – Deut. 30:19 NIV.

What is God’s desire concerning power for His children? God’s desire is that His children find their strength in Him.

So, the real question is: what is the source of your power? What is the source of your confidence?

For many, it is appearance—looking good can make you feel unstoppable. For others, it is money or intellect. However, God calls us to something deeper: to draw our strength from Him alone.

“You shall serve the Lord your God, and Him only shall you serve” (Luke 4:8) This statement holds the very power to conquering the lust for power that the devil presented to Jesus. Jesus’ response can also be understood this way: my power comes from God and from Him alone.

The real question is why??

The Bible shows us there are two sources in life—two kinds of wisdom (James 3:15-17), two kinds of power (Deuteronomy 30:19). Light and darkness. And you must choose one.

God is the one who adds to a man without sorrow. Anything gained through the world, outside of Christ, eventually becomes emptiness, loss, or destruction. So, I ask you again, what use it is to gain the world and lose your soul, why do you struggle when God has already provided everything? (Mark 8:36)

The painful truth is: the power the devil offers is often what you already have, what is yours.

Eve was already made in the image of God, yet she was deceived into thinking she lacked something. That is deception at its highest level—convincing you that you are empty of something you are already full of, then selling back to you what already belongs to you, at the cost of your life.

However, Christ has redeemed us and paid it all through His Blood.

PRAYER: You God are my strength and shield; in you I move and live and have my being. Let my life be rooted in you, help me not to work by my own strength but in Christ Jesus, Amen.
