TOPIC: “THE RESPONSIBILITY OF INFLUENCE”
TEXT: Romans 6:12-14, Proverbs 4:23
MEMORY VERSE: “Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it” – Proverbs 4:23 NIV.
So where did the corruption begin?
We already know—the devil does not create, he corrupts.
Today, wrong ideologies are being passed down to the next generation. Meanwhile, influence is powerful because it shapes belief systems—and every person lives and functions according to what they believe.
What used to be valued is now dismissed. Purity before marriage is no longer seen as important. Modesty is no longer attractive. Speaking properly is considered boring, while vulgar language is seen as expressive. It almost feels as if unless you speak harshly, you are not taken seriously.
The major giants of influence today—movie producers, musicians, fashion designers, actors, athletes—understand this power. That is why a single picture from someone such as Lionel Messi can earn him millions. Influence moves people and Messi holds that influence over millions of people.
Therefore, you need to understand what influences you and shapes your belief system. Knowledge is not docile, whether you like it or not, the information you consume through various medias affect your way of thinking (Romans 6:12-14). Thus, today be more intentional about guarding your heart (Proverbs 4:23)
So, what is God’s desire for influence in His children?
You are called to be light in darkness. To forgive in an unforgiving world. To be patient in a restless world. To remain pure in an immoral world. You are to reflect the nature of your Father (Ephesians 5:8-10).
Consequently, Do not stay silent. For every wrong voice, speak truth—consistently.
At its core, the desire for influence is the desire to love. Or simply put, the desire to reflect Christ—because Christ is love.
PRAYER: Let my light so shine for all men to see, that they may see the good deeds of my Father in heaven and glorify His holy name, Amen.
