TOPIC: “RUN TOWARD GOD, NOT AWAY”
TEXT: Romans 8:38–39
MEMORY VERSE: “For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord” – Romans 8:38-39 NIV.
“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have everlasting life.” (John 3:16)
Many of us, through painful experiences and wrong decisions, have given our hearts, minds and bodies to the desires of this world. The truth is irrespective, we have all sinned and fallen short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23).
However, there is no depth of sin, shame, pain, or darkness that can separate you from the love of God.
Sometimes, when we fall—especially those who were once close to God—we begin to withdraw. We run farther away each time we sin, but understand this: that is the voice of the enemy. The longer you stay away, the easier it becomes to silence the voice of God (The Holy Spirit) within you, because you cannot bear the guilt.
Many of us avoid God and the voice of the Holy Spirit because we feel ashamed, but that shame is a lie. The moment you fall is the moment you should run to God, not away from Him. Because where else can you go? There truly is nowhere else.
Run back to God!!
Do not isolate yourself. Speak to someone who can guide you. Have an accountability partner. Surround yourself with people who will pray for you. Devote yourself to God’s Word and to serving Him.
There is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus (Romans 8:1). Do not let your sin keep you away from the One who can save you.
PRAYER: Father help to run towards you always, because I know that in you, I am safe and there is no condemnation or shame that can keep me away from your love, Amen.
