SEPTEMBER 10:The Benefits of the Fullness of God: Operating in Discernment

The Christian life is a journey into intimacy with God. The more a person presses into the things of God, the more God reveals to him what others are not privileged to see or hear. One of the skills that comes out of that intimate relationship with God is the ability to distinguish between truth and error, good and evil. Oftentimes, when life lacks clarity, we get lost. We cannot distinguish between good and evil, truth and fiction, or an outburst of anger and a cry for help. How do we find our way when things seem so confusing?
In our text today, Paul calls attention to another benefit of the fullness of God, as recorded in the text, which says “… discerning in knowing him personally, your eyes focused and clear…” Discernment is the gift of God, that enables us to see beyond the appearance of our circumstances, perceive God’s viewpoint on them, and make wise judgments in response. Discernment is essential because it helps us navigate the complexities of life as Christians.
How then do we get into this realm in our walk with God? It is through the ministry of the Holy Spirit in our lives. As we engage in the world of God and we are exposed to the truth in it, the Lord begins to give us insight into those things that are deep about Him and about whatever is happing around us. As you step out today, ask for a discerning heart, and He will reveal Himself to you.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, the revealer of all truths, as we come to you, show us those things that we need to see, open our ears to hear the deep things from your throne room and help us to walk with those revelations in our lives.
