Topic: “CORRECTIONS – MEEKNESS“
Text:Mathew 16:24-25, :2 Timothy 3:16-17, Ps 25:9
Memory Verse: Then Jesus said to His disciples, If anyone wishes to come after Me, he must deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me. It is laying down our lives to follow Christ. Matt 16:24
God furnishes and decorates us not only through His guidance but also through His reproofs, corrections and instructions to live a life that is pleasing to Him. You cannot successfully pursue your God given vision without understanding divine correction.
Why We Need Correction:
We need correction – Prov 14:12. We need to be open to the corrections of the Lord. Many destinies have been wrecked as a result of the people of God pursuing the way that seems right but leads to death. God only corrects the meek – Ps 25:9. In 2 Kgs 3:14, we have an example of a king that did not take advice or listen to instructions.
God does not waste His words; He speaks only to those who will value it. When your mind is made up, He leaves you to lead yourself, but when you are meek, He steps in to correct you every time you are off-track. Man will always need correction because he is liable to misinterpretations and errors when correction is not applied; a little leaven leavens the whole lump.
Qualifications for Divine Correction
The principal factor that qualifies you and me for correction is meekness; we put aside our reputation, our class in order to receive with meekness, the correction of the Lord. It is never too late to be right. There is no way a wrong track can ever lead you to the right end. In 2 Chronicles 25:5-10, King Amaziah accepted divine correction and retraced his steps from a wrong decision. No matter how much you have invested on a wrong course, when God steps in and says do not do it, retrace your steps, otherwise you will lose everything.
Corrections are necessary because a little error can influence a congregation, if it is not dealt with on time – Gal 5:9. Let us lay down our ego, self centeredness
PRAYER: Ask God to show you where you have missed it and be open for corrections, so that you don’t make a shipwreck of your faith
