SEPTEMBER 14: “INDISCIPLINE AS A VEHICLE OF SIN”

DATE: Monday 14  September  2026

TOPIC:  “INDISCIPLINE AS A VEHICLE OF SIN”

TEXT: Daniel 6:3, Proverbs 22:29

MEMORY VERSE:  “Now Daniel so distinguished himself among the administrators and the satraps by his exceptional qualities that the king planned to set him over the whole kingdom” – Daniel 6:3 NIV.

Indiscipline is the lack of control, restraint, or willingness to follow rules and standards, resulting in disorderly behaviour. It reflects a failure to adhere to established norms, whether in school, work, or daily life. Common examples include disobedience, defiance of authority, disruptive behaviour and neglect of duties.

When indiscipline creeps into a person’s nature, it opens the door to sin. The Bible says, “A man without self-control is like a city broken into and left without walls” (Proverbs 25:28). This is because a lack of discipline translates to an inability to defend yourself—an inability to say no.

A walled city without defences becomes easy prey for invaders. In the same way, a life without discipline becomes vulnerable, making it easy for sin to take root and return.

So how do we respond?

We highlight excellence as the God-nature that confronts indiscipline. Wherever you are and whatever you do, it is your responsibility to pursue excellence, because that is the nature of God within you. We have not been given a spirit of fear or disorder, but of power, love, and self-control (2 Timothy 1:7).

Consider the life of Daniel. He demonstrated a spirit of excellence—the same Spirit that lives in us. “Now Daniel so distinguished himself among the administrators and the satraps by his exceptional qualities that the king planned to set him over the whole kingdom” (Daniel 6:3).

Scripture also says, “Do you see a man diligent in his work? He will stand before kings; he will not stand before ordinary men” (Proverbs 22:29).

Learn the habit of doing things well (Colossians 3:23). Learn to follow through. Learn to finish strong.

PRAYER: Lord, enable, me to be consistent in works. Make my path straight and my feet steady. I will not be filled with doubt and be unstable in my ways. Father, teach me discipline, Amen
