Fear of Failure has haunted all of us at some time in our lives. According to the Word of God, it tells us that there is a failure proof way to live. It is the way of love. 1 Cor. 13:8, says it plainly: Love Never Fails, Love endures.
To those who think love expresses itself through emotion, that may sound wrong. Emotion cannot turn failure into success. However real love isn’t expressed only through emotion – it shows up in action; and the right action can make all the difference.
When you read the story in Mathew 14, Jesus faced one of the toughest situations in His earthly life, the murder of His beloved cousin John. What will you do in such a painful situation? Initially, you would probably do the same thing Jesus did. When He heard the news, He went out to be alone. However, the masses, insensitive to His personal distress, simply followed Him.
Many people would have responded to them in anger. Most people would have rebuked them and said, “Can you people not leave me alone? Jesus did not respond that way. On the contrary, the Bible says that He was moved with compassion by destroying the works of sickness and diseases. Jesus refused to give in to self pity or react in anger, instead, He focused on the real enemy He was facing. He attacked pain and suffering with the compassion of God. He turned a potential failure into a supernatural success.
One way to resist the devil is to stop focusing on ourselves – if Jesus had focused on the gruesome murder of His cousin, He could have gotten afraid and lost His vision to fear of what would happen to Him. Instead, He had a focus on His mission. We can also get busy looking for those in need and attend to them, instead of focusing on our disappointments, failures and fears.
PRAYER: Ask to rise above evil distractions and your vision to be renewed in Christ.
