TOPIC: “CASTING YOUR CARES”
TEXT: 1 Peter 5:7
MEMORY VERSE: “Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you (1 Peter 5:7, NIV)
Nsem, an orphan, grew up knowing lack like the back of her hand. Think of anything a child could lack, and you would find it in her story, food, clothes, shoes, care, and attention, especially in the early years when she needed it most. Life seems better than it once was. However, something within her has not healed. Nsem now overbuys food, stores more than she needs and accumulates clothes, shoes, and even affection wherever she can find it. She stretches herself so thin trying to secure her future that she ends up drained. In her own words, she is a hoarder, trying to protect herself from ever experiencing lack again.
What Nsem does not realize is that her fear is slowly turning into something unhealthy. The need to feel safe has become a constant burden. She wants more than she truly needs, not out of greed alone, but out of unresolved anxiety. The truth is we are all like Nsem.
This is where the words of Apostle Peter become so important: cast all your cares on Him. Not some, not the big ones alone, but all. Whether it is past pain, fear of lack, or the weight of survival, God invites us to release it to Him.
True freedom begins with humility, the willingness to admit that we cannot carry everything on our own. God cares deeply for us and His care is not distant or passive. It is active, present and sufficient.
A good caregiver provides help and support to one who cannot manage alone. That is who we are and that is who God is to us.
Let this settle in your heart; Jesus cares for you more than you can imagine. Whatever you are holding onto, you do not have to carry it alone.
PRAYER: Lord Jesus, help me to be vulnerable enough to cast all my cares on You, no matter how big or small they seem, Amen.
