Topic: HIS PLEASURE
Text: Micah 6:1-8
Memory Verse: “He hath shewed thee, o man, what is good and what doth the Lord require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God? Micah 6:8
There are certain expectations that we desire to see fulfilled, be it in our individual lives, families, institutions, or the nations at large. The attainment of such expectations bring about a sense of satisfaction, and tend to stimulate us to further actions as may become necessary.
At creation, having made all other things, God did not set out just to make man without a specific purpose in view, otherwise man would have been merely an accident of time. On the contrary, He chose to make man intentionally in His own image with the expectation that such a man will be a total representation of His being in fruitfulness, multiplication, replenishment, subjugation and the exercise of dominion. Any man that pursues this godly template, will be acting in consonance with God’s Will and Pleasure.
The entirety of creation is the expression of God’s own pleasure. When He had finished the work, He stood and beheld all the works of His hands, and declared by Himself and to his pleasure, that everything was good (Gen 1:31). Attesting to the beauty of His creation, the Twenty-four Elders in John’s Vision declared:
“Thou art worthy, O God, to receive glory, and honour, and power, for thou hast created all things and for thy pleasure, they are and were created” Rev 4:11
There is one thing, and only one thing that displeases God, and that is sin (Prov 6:16-19). When Adam fell at the beginning, even though it was grievous to God, and because of His manifest grace and mercy, it was also to his pleasure to bring forth another creation out of the second Adam, Jesus Christ, for the first Adam failed to please him in that he sinned against God (Gen3:14-15; 2Cor5:19)
Our God is ever pleased to see us fulfil the full dimensions of his pleasure. John 15:8; how committed are you to doing what is morally right or fair, being loyal and faithful to God, as well as being mindful and careful in walking with Him daily?
Prayer: Dear Lord, teach me the pleasure of your every day as I live, and help me to walk therein in Jesus’ name. Amen
