SEPTEMBER 22: “CONSISTENCY AND AVAILABILITY”

Examples of Intimacy in the bible that are life giving, world changing, worthy of emulation that can be examples that you, members of the church community can model after, are like those of Ruth and Naomi, God and Abraham, Jonathan and David, Job and his friends. All of these examples are based on availability in all seasons of life, including times of adversity and while being consistent in commitment to each other, with unwavering common interests and goals! Not like Peter the Apostle unto whom the revelation was given of not calling what God has created, unclean and who at Antioch played the Jew for the sake of a few Jews who came from Jerusalem and offended the gentiles who had believed, creating dichotomy and uncalled for barriers that affected relationship and community building.

Unreliable behaviour of members, in action, words or commitment can lead to mistrust and uncertainty, making it difficult for others to form deep connections, and sending at the best, mixed signals, leaving people unsure of where to stand or what to expect, which naturally hinders deep relationships. When you as a member is emotionally distant or preoccupied, being frequently unavailable at church gatherings, events, and small groups, these precipitate limited opportunities for interactions and relationship building can only result in intimacy hiatus.

To remove barriers therefore, you must commit to embracing deliberate relationship building and maintenance, commit to open and clear communication, availability, removing inconsistency in actions, not being double-tongued, not offering unclear messages for such are not of Christ. More so, you must ensure that the inconsistency and lukewarm service of others do not influence your commitment to service in and welfare of the Church as this reflects the love and relationship modelled in the Bible.

PRAYER: God Almighty, make me strong and reliable, not like one who is easily tossed by the wind and unstable. Grant me increased courage to be consistent in all my ways , committed to furthering your calling on my life and to be available for the fulfilment of other brethren as you are to your church, Amen.
