SEPTEMBER 27: HIS PROTECTION

Topic: HIS PROTECTION

Text: Gen 3:1-24

Memory Verse: “Unto Adam also and his wife did the Lord make coats of skins, and clothed them” Gen 3:21

The entirety of creation from the onset was beautiful, desirable and pleasant to behold, that God Himself simply described it as very good (Gen 1:31). But this testimony became short-lived, because the Father of all lies crept into the establishment, in his usual craftiness, and began to mutilate the very essence of God’s construct. This brought about the very first rebellion of man against his Creator and with it fear was introduced also for the first time in the annals of creation (Vs10).

As a result, man who was hitherto functioning in the image of God, enjoying sweet communion with Him, and exercising dominion over the rest of creation became “naked” (Vs 7;10), and therefore a victim, exposed to all kinds of threats to life and livelihood. Sadly, he lost the glorious covering of the Most High God, and had to settle for perishable human covering made of Fig Leaves.

However, in spite the fall, and the consequences of sin being applied, God in his ever-gracious disposition still proceeded to provide them a superior covering to shield them from the perils of life. This is the first evidence in human history of God showing up as our protection.

Today, we can confidently declare like the psalmist that “the Lord is my light, and my salvation, whom shall I fear? The Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?” Psalm 27:1-3.

The Scripture is replete with God’s reassurances to all His children never to fear or be afraid. He has undertaken by Himself, as He did for Adam and Eve to provide a covering for those of us who will trust him and thrust everything upon Him. You may be challenged in your body, soul or spirit; be rest assured He is there right beside you with His arms well stretched out to you to hold and keep you in safety (Gen15:1; Exod 14:13; Deut 3:2; Josh 8:1; Psalm 18:2, 91:118:6. Isai 41:10-14; Rom 8:15, Eph. 6:10-18; 2Thes 3:3; 2Tim 1:7; 4:18).

Prayer: Thank you, Abba Father for choosing to cover me under the shelter of your wings, shielded from my adversary and all his cohorts. May I never be found outside your hedge, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
