SEPTEMBER 30: HIS PROMISE

September 30, 2023

Topic: HIS PROMISE

Text: Num 23:19-20

Memory Verse: “For all the promises of God in him are yea, and in him amen, unto the glory of God by us” 1 Cor1:20.

The relationship into which God has called us is one that is hinged on a variety of promises which the Lord has made. He fully understands the potency of such promises in the lives of all His people as He seeks continuing fellowship with them.

It is totally inconsistent with the nature and character of God for him to lie or vacillate on any matter under any circumstance. God is ever consistent with His promises, and watches over His word to fulfil it. The following Scriptures give us a sense of God’s consistency concerning His word:

“For I am the Lord, I change not” (Malachi 3:6a)

“So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me

void, but it shall accomplish that which I please and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it”. Isa 55:11)

“That by two immutable things, in which it as impossible for God to lie, we might have a strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold upon the hope set before us”

(Heb 6:18).

Before Balaam arrived at the conclusion we read of in our main text, he had previously thought that God was going to change His mind on whether to bless His people or curse them as Balak wanted. He missed it big time and would have paid dearly for it but for the mercies of God. We must continue to learn to take God literally at His word, spoken or written, for therein lies the revelation of His will. If He said it, He will surely do it. He is trustworthy.

Prayer: Father, I know that all your promises concerning me, are primarily for my good, I therefore take hold of them and await their fulfilment in my life in due season, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
