Topic: GRACE: THE TEACHER
Text: TITUS 2:11-14
Memory Verse: Titus 2:12 – “Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world”.
The grace of God is multifaceted in nature and operations. The word “Grace” actually has several things embedded in it. The truth that is sacrosanct is that the Christian life is by grace from start to finish. Grace functions in multi-dimensional ways in the believers’ life.
According to scriptures, one of the crucial functions of grace is that it teaches. Paul in his Epistles to Titus gives us insight into what grace does. The bible says “For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men. 12 It teaches us to say ‘No’ to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age, while we wait for the blessed hope– the glorious appearing of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ” Titus 2:11-13.
When the grace of God appears to us at salvation, it appears as a teacher and it teaches us two things. Firstly, it teaches us to say “No” to ungodliness and worldly passions whenever and wherever they are presented to us. Secondly, it teaches us to live self-controlled, upright and godly life in this present age. These two things that grace teaches us summarizes the expectation of God from us as believers. It was this same grace that was at work in the life of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ which made him to live a sinless life. He said, “For the prince of this world is coming. He has no hold on me”, John 14:30.
Beloved, are you wallowing in sin? Have you become a captive of immorality? Is it continually becoming difficult for you to deny ungodliness and worldly passions? Are you finding it difficult to live a godly and self-controlled life? I have good news for you. The grace of God is the answer to all of these questions.
PRAYER: Pray right now and ask God to grant you the grace and you shall be a victor.
