APRIL 5: WALKING IN INTEGRITY WHEN TEMPTATION CALLS”

DATE: Sunday 5 April  2026
TOPIC:  “WALKING IN INTEGRITY WHEN TEMPTATION CALLS”
TEXT: Genesis 39: 7 – 16

MEMORY VERSE: “He is not greater in this house than I am, nor has he kept anything from me except you, because you are his wife. How then could I do this great evil and sin against God [and your husband]?” – Genesis 39:9

When Joseph faced the persistent temptation from Potiphar’s wife, his response revealed the depth of his walk with God. In Genesis 39:8, he first recalled the favour God had shown him through his master—how Potiphar entrusted everything in the house to his care. This remembrance would have stirred in Joseph a sense of greater responsibility, gratitude and unwavering faithfulness toward both God and his master.

Joseph did not sugarcoat the temptation before him. He called it what it was: “this great evil.” He refused to redefine sin or soften its weight. He recognized that yielding would not only betray Potiphar’s trust, but would be an act of wickedness against God Himself.

Beloved, are you facing temptations in any area of your life? No matter how common, accepted, or normalized the act may seem in today’s world, resolve in your heart to name it for what it is—evil and wickedness against God. Do not allow the enemy to feed your mind with compromises or subtle justifications that lower God’s standard.

Scripture gives us a lifeline in 1 Corinthians 10:13: God will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you can bear. The very fact that you are facing a temptation means you have the capacity, by God’s grace, to overcome it. The fear of God—reverence, honour and deep respect for Him—places you in a position of strength when temptation comes.

No matter what temporary pleasure is being offered or what tangible thing you fear losing, it will never compare to the cost of yielding. You have far more to lose by giving in to temptation than you do by walking in obedience.

Stand firm. Honor God. Choose righteousness. His grace is sufficient for you.

PRAYER: Lord, thank you for the assurance that I will not be tested beyond my capacity. Help me to remain firm and resolute in my convictions and belief in you. Give me grace to silence the voice and distractions in this world when I am faced with temptations, Amen
