TOPIC: “WALKING IN STEP WITH GOD’S SOVEREIGN PLAN”
TEXT: Genesis 37: 1 – 11
MEMORY VERSE: “And Joseph dreamed a dream, and he told it his brethren.” – Genesis 37:5a .
As we step into this new month, we will spend the next few days reflecting on one of Scripture’s most remarkable figures—Joseph. His life is a journey marked by trials, unwavering trust and ultimately, triumph. The lessons drawn from Joseph’s story will help us stay conscious and intentional as we align ourselves with God this year and for the rest of our lives.
The opening scene of Joseph’s story reveals something profound about God’s mindset towards our lives and His creation. “And Joseph dreamed a dream…” This dream was not a random night vision; it was God projecting Joseph into his future—showing him the end from the very beginning. God’s way of thinking always begins with the end in mind. Rooted in His omniscience and sovereignty, He declares the final outcome before the first step is taken, ensuring that His purposes cannot be thwarted (Job 42:2). God sees time as a complete picture, orchestrating history—and individual lives—toward a good, purposeful and predetermined conclusion.
The same is true concerning your life. God’s thought pattern for you is already established. Ephesians 2:10 reminds us that we are God’s workmanship, created for good works that He prepared in advance. Ephesians 1:4–5 further reveals that He chose you before the foundation of the world to be holy and adopted you as His child. This is God’s intentional design and redemptive purpose for your life.
Like Joseph, you must know that God’s sovereign plan for you includes an expected end (Jeremiah 29:11). Joseph’s dream became the driving force that carried him through every season of his journey into that expected end. Now that you have set your heart to align with God, remember that His plan is to shape you—His workmanship on earth—so that you are prepared for the ultimate expected end: eternity with Him.
Live each day with eternity in view. Just as every step Joseph took in obedience brought him closer to God’s intended future, let every step you take draw you nearer to the glorious end God has prepared for you.
PRAYER: Lord, I thank you because I know that your thoughts and plans for my life are good, not evil, to give me a future, hope and an expected end. Help me to see myself walking in that constant truth, aligning myself with your purpose and plans for my life always, Amen.
