TOPIC: “CRUCIFY SELFISH ATTITUDES”
TEXT: Matthew 5:3–12
MEMORY VERSE: “O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless, not as I will, but as thou wilt” – Matthew 26:39
Attitude shapes how we see people, respond to situations and interpret life. A selfish attitude places self at the centre, my way, my comfort, my timing, my needs above everything and everyone else.
Selfishness may appear as:
impatience when things do not go your way
demanding to be first
blaming others quickly
refusing correction
caring little about how your actions affect others
Jesus shows us a better way.
In the Beatitudes, He describes the character of those who belong to His kingdom: humility, mercy, purity, peacemaking, hunger for righteousness and gentleness.
A healthy attitude begins when we surrender self-rule and allow Christ to shape our inner life. As your heart changes, your responses begin to change too.
You do not become unselfish overnight, but growth begins with daily surrender.
Today’s Reflection:
Where has selfishness been influencing your reactions?
Today’s Action:
Choose one selfless act today, serve, listen, share, or put someone else first.
PRAYER: Lord, transform my attitude. Remove selfishness and teach me the heart of Christ. Help me to grow in humility, kindness and love each day, Amen.
