Topic: “OUTCOMES OF INTIMACY IN THE CHURCH – FELLOWSHIP“
Text: Ecclesiastes 4:9-10
Memory Verse: They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. Acts 2:42
Fellowship is an essential aspect of the Christian life. It nurtures and strengthens relationships as well as helps believers fulfill their God-given purpose. To mention but a few, fellowship fosters the:
- Fellowship Reflects the Nature of God – God exists in perfect fellowship within the Trinity – Father, Son and Holy Spirit. As believers, we are called to reflect unity. “My prayer is not for them alone. I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message, that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you. May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me. I have given them the glory that you gave me, that they may be one as we are one” -John 17:20-22.
- Fellowship Provides Encouragement – Life’s challenges can be overwhelming, but fellowship offers a source of mutual encouragement and strength. “And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another; and all the more as you see the Day approaching” – Hebrews 10:24-25.
- Fellowship Strengthens Prayer – Corporate prayer in Fellowship carries great power. Jesus Christ assured us “Again, truly I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about anything they ask for, it will be done for them by my Father in heaven. For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them” – Matthew 18:18-19.
Fellowship is more than just meeting together; it is living in unity as the Family of God and it equips believers to stand strong in their faith.
PRAYER: Lord, I acknowledge my need for other people. I ask You to help me yield myself to your teachings in Jesus’ name, Amen.
