August 4: MAKE ROOM FOR GOD: LIFT UP YOUR HEADS IV

“Lift up your heads ….” Is written in Psalms 24:7 as a command. The voice is of one who is in charge! A statement from the place of authority. Christ made a categorical statement that power and authority have been given to his disciples to tread on scorpions and serpents, which are representative of the powers wielded by the agents of darkness and all that oppose the children of light. This was corroborated in Matt 28:18 that all authority in heaven and on earth has been given to Him (Jesus) and that authority He has given to us believers!

Christ encourages with assurance in John 14:12 that greater things believers will do in “my name” that is, in the name of Jesus. It is written in Phil 2:10 that at the name of Jesus, every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth. The efficacy of these words are not in doubt and they have found expression at all seasons of life but the authority so given is for those who abide in Him and He dwells in them as written in John 15:5 …” ….for without me you can do nothing.” That is those who have agreed to “make room for God” permanently in their lives so that He should not only be saviour, but Lord in their circumstances!

To operate from this place of authority therefore and to be a master of life, indeed, to be able to speak positive change to situations and cause their “heads to be lifted up”, you have to be in Christ! Why continue to wallow in poverty and lack? Why continue to struggle needlessly? Why would you allow the authority of darkness and the rulers of this world to continue to dictate your situation when you can turn to the Master of the universe who has made all things and by whom nothing was that was made! If you would cry to him from your place of affliction, from the place where floods of life compass about and billows of waves pass over and depth close around with weeds wrapped about the head with the intent to stagnate and suffocate. If you would cry to Him from the place where the bars of earth are about encompassing like Jonah, he will hear your cry and he will ensure salvation and deliverance and your heads shall be lifted up, far above the principalities and powers!

Prayers:
Lord, I call unto you today. Be my help and the lifter up of my head. Help me to stand on my high places again and redeem my soul from the snares of the wicked. Salvation is of the Lord, deliver me from all my troubles and the vicissitudes of this world in Jesus’ name. Amen
