Topic: “OUTCOMES OF INTIMACY IN THE CHURCH – MANIFESTATION OF SPIRITUAL GIFTS “
Text: 1 Corinthians 12:4-11
Memory Verse: For as we have many members in one body, but all the members do not have the same function, so we, being many, are one body in Christ, and individually members of one another. Romans 12:4-5
To manifest is to reveal, to appear, to lighten, to exhibit …. Manifestation is external evidence of God doing things through His Children.
Spiritual gifts are described as supernatural abilities or powers given by the Holy Spirit to individual Christians to serve God and others within the Christian community. These gifts are not natural talents, but supernatural endowments used to build up the Church and fulfil its mission.
Spiritual Gifts are:
- Wisdom.
- knowledge
- Faith
- Healing
- Miracles
- Prophecy
- Discerning of spirits.
- Speaking in Tongues.
- Interpretation of Tongues.
- Leadership
- Teaching
- Administration
- Evangelism
- Exhortation
- Mercy
- Giving
All these Spiritual gifts thrive in the community of believers as a result of the presence of the Holy Spirit to enhance our growth. In the story of Paul’s travels in Acts 16:16-18, he discerns and casts out a spirit of divination from a slave girl. This spirit was using the girl for fortune-telling and benefiting her owners financially. Paul’s action exemplifies our ability to recognize and rebuke evil spirits.
PRAYER: Oh Lord, by the help of the Holy Spirit, help me to identify my Spiritual gift and make me apply it to your glory in Jesus Christ’s mighty name, Amen.
