DECEMBER 03: “A LOVE STRONGER THAN DEATH”

Topic: “A LOVE STRONGER THAN DEATH”

Text: SONG OF SOLOMON 8: 6A

Memory Verse: “Place me like a seal over your heart, like a seal on your arm; for love is as strong as death…” – Song of Solomon 8:6a.

Love is stronger than death. In fact, God’s love overrules death, in that He alone has the power to make things, people and situations dead or alive. He has the final word over loss, stagnation and separation. What do we do when we are confronted with not just the possibility of imminent death, but its certainty?

Stephen, the martyr, (Acts 7) when confronted with his stoning, looked upward and saw Jesus, standing. Was Jesus, our Master, giving Stephen a standing ovation for holding on to his faith until the end? Was Jesus identifying with Stephen’s sacrifice? There are many possibilities, however, one thing remains true – Jesus was there and Stephen saw Him.

At the point of death beloved, you and I will go straight out of this world into God’s Presence (2 Corinthians 5.8). We too, will see Him face to face. If we have placed our faith in Jesus, as Saviour and Lord, that is our hope and assurance. That will be the moment when words will be superfluous.  God will take the glory and love will suffuse the atmosphere. As the popular song says, ‘I can only imagine’. As wonderful as these thoughts are, our assignment presently, is to live long and well, doing God’s will, ever ready to meet Him face to face!

PRAYER: Father, bring me to a place of peace with my mortality so I can more fully live for you. It is day now. May I do your work willingly and joyfully in Jesus’ name, Amen.
