DECEMBER 09: “A VIRGIN SHALL CONCEIVE, HOW?”

Topic:  “A VIRGIN SHALL CONCEIVE, HOW?“

Text: Isaiah 7:14; Luke 1:26-38

Memory Verse:  “And the angel answered and said to her, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Highest will overshadow you; therefore, also, that Holy One who is to be born will be called the Son of God” Luke 1:35.

The Incarnation was nothing short of a miracle. A virgin, who never had sex, conceiving a child is biologically impossible, and that’s exactly the point. God wanted it clear: the Savior would not be the product of human effort, but the result of divine intervention. This miracle ensures that Jesus is both fully God and fully man. He had no earthly father, so He inherited no sinful nature; yet He was born of a woman, sharing fully in our humanity.

That which was foretold as a general prophecy centuries before Mary was born, Angel Gabriel now came to make heaven’s promise become personal for Mary. The Holy Spirit would overshadow her, and the eternal Word would take on flesh in her womb. Redemption is always a work of God from start to finish.

However, what then is the blessing and the “burden” of being a vessel for miracle? How fun-filled do you think it was for Mary, and Joseph, to be candidates of this miracle? What price did they pay? What will it look like to be the mother of Jesus at conception, at birth and especially at His death? Reflect on areas in your life that seem difficult or impossible to surrender to God.

PRAYER: Holy Spirit, thank You for the miracle of the Incarnation. Thank You for making the impossible possible. Let my life be a vessel for Your presence and Your purposes in Jesus’ name, Amen.
