Topic: BORN FOR OUR REDEMPTION
Text: Isaiah 53:1-12,
Memory Verse: “This is to fulfill what was spoken through the prophet Isaiah: He took our infirmities and bore our diseases” Matt 8:17
Isaiah gave the prophecy possibly 600 years before Jesus was born. The prophecy captured all that was going to be the ministry of Jesus. There are several things to note in the chapter that Jesus fulfilled:
- A servant of the Lord like a tender green shoot from dry ground. That was the condition of God’s people Israel, at the time he was born.
- There was no beauty or majesty about His appearance, nothing to attract us to Him.
- He was despised and rejected, full of sorrows and deep grief.
- He came to carry our weaknesses.
- It was our sorrows that weighed Him down.
- We thought He was punished by God.
- He was pierced for our rebellion.
- He was crushed for our sins.
- He was beaten so we can be whole.
- He was whipped so we can be healed.
- The Lord laid on Him the sins of us all.
Matthew says that His great work of power was to fulfil the Word of the Lord through the prophet Isaiah. “He took our sickness and removed our diseases”.
Prayer:
1. Worship the Lord for all he has done.
2. Claim these promises for yourself in every area of your life.
