Topic: “LOVE STEP OUT, SO YOU CAN STEP IN

John 1:14 “The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the One and Only, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.”
During the II World War, a soldier while preparing to leave for the War front, told his wife before leaving her and their infant son that “I’ll be back soon,” Four years of war and fighting went by. The young mother would show her boy a portrait of the soldier and say, “See, that’s your daddy. One day he’s going to come home.” Even though she did not know the day or time the father would come, she lived every day with expectation of his return.
In a sense that is what God did 2,000 years ago. As part of his eternal plan, he stepped out of heaven and became a man so you and I could look at Jesus and say, “That is what God looks like.” The apostle John described the stepping out, “The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the One and Only, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth” (John 1:14 NIV).
Jesus stepped out of glory, so you and I can step into the glory with the Father. That is what love did for us, He gave us what was valuable for us to step into that place of honour and glory. Eugene Petersen in The Message paraphrases our text today, “The Word became flesh and blood, and moved into the neighbourhood” He moved into the neighbourhood, so we can move into a kingdom of the Father.
PRAYER: Heavenly Father, we thank you that you stepped out of glory so we can step into that glory. Lord, help us never to take what you did for granted, help us to live worthy of what you have done for us in Jesus’ name.
