Topic: THE DISTINGUISHING FACTOR
Text: Exodus 33:12-16
Memory Verse: “How will anyone know that you are pleased with me and with your people unless you go with us? What else will distinguish me and your people from all the other people on the face of the earth?” Exodus 33:16
What makes a difference between two things is a distinguishing factor. It helps to identify an object or give a distinction to it. In the contemporary world, people have come to set many distinguishing factors especially between the rich and the poor.
Those things that readily separate the rich from the poor are brands of cars and their worth, the manufacture year, location of residence, the size of the house, the collection of clothes and the designers, circle of friends, asset worth, place of work etc. Moses from our text for today had an understanding that nothing here on earth can distinguish believers from unbelievers except THE PRESENCE OF GOD. Aman that has the presence of God has every other thing. Moses knew this fact and insisted on His presence going with them.
The presence of God is security and assurance of victory for his children. When God goes ahead of His children anywhere, every battle put up against them will be lost though there will be oppositions but victory is sure. He causes those that stand as their enemies to bow in His own time to His glory. What ordinarily one cannot achieve is possible with God’s presence. The Israelites were able to dislodge the inhabitants of those lands they took over because God went with them. God’s children have a divine cover because of His presence with them anywhere they are. He makes a hedge of protection around them that shields them from the attacks of the enemies. His presence can ward off dangers for his children and even make the enemies to flee.
Another benefit of His presence is courage and confidence. There is hardly any situation no matter how daunting that a child of God cannot go through successfully. This is why David said, “even though I walk through the valley of shadows I fear no evil”.
To have God’s presence, He will have to be pleased with you as His child. Is there anything you are doing now that negates God’s word ?If yes, quickly say the prayer below.
Prayer: Lord, forgive me of every act of disobedience and have mercy on me. Separate me from anything that will make me lose your presence in Jesus name I pray.
