Topic: GOD’S PRESENCE – YOUR PEACE
Text: Mark 4:35-41
Memory Verse: “He got up, rebuked the wind and said to the
waves, Peace be still, then the wind died down and it was
completely calm”. Mark 4:39
Peace is a major treasure that every individual and community needs. The world is witnessing so much unrest and turmoil, such that people are being killed at an alarming rate through wars, insurgencies, banditry, and ritual/occultic activities. This state of unrest is also leading to a high rise in suicide in our societies. Fear has become a major feature of our existence currently and peace has continued to elude us.
To this end, different countries are doing different things to stem the tide of this evil; but from a spiritual view, only the presence of God, recognized by people can truly bring a lasting solution and lead us to the much-desired peace we all pray for. With God, we can know and experience perfect peace even in the face of turmoil.
In our text for today, we see how Jesus’ presence with His disciples saved them of the possibility of drowning because of the violent storm that hit their boat as they traveled on the Sea of Galilee. While they all panicked at the storm, Jesus was at peace and rose to rebuke the wind and it died down. Jesus commanded the storm to be still and immediately there was a great calm, peace returned.
He still does the same even today. His presence in your life, home, business, and marriage will guarantee peace. Like the disciples, do not hesitate to call upon Him in your storm. You only need to be devoted to Him and your whole attitude should be steady and stable – see Philippians 4:6-7 and Isaiah 26:3. If you keep your thoughts on God and trust Him with complete obedience, your heart will truly enjoy peace.
If your heart is occupied by the thoughts of Christ, the Prince of Peace he will keep your whole life at peace because He knows how and has power to calm every storm no matter how turbulent it may be. Faith and trust in Him release His power to every storm in your life.
Prayer: Command every storm in your life to cease and invoke the name of Jesus.
