JANUARY 28: “GENERATIONAL BLESSING THAT LAST”

Abraham, the father of faith, went through a crisis with his nephew, at a point, took the advice of Sarah and went to Hagar, and was later asked to sacrifice his son Issac. His journey was characterized by obedience, doubt, fear, fights, and a whole lot of things.

In our text for today, we see the Lord re-establishing His promise to Abraham. After going through those difficult challenges, the Lord came through for him. The scripture says in Psalm 30:5, “weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning.” Abraham has now entered a new phase of his life. It is a time when he will have access to the generational blessings from God.

The pathway to accessing the generational blessing is clearly seen in the journey of Abraham’s life. Faith in God, obedience to God, and then the blessings will follow. For in the ultimate sense, it is not through one’s biological birth that one inherits the promise of God, but through the great “Seed” or “Offspring” of Abraham, which is Jesus Christ. Jesus is the seed that was always in view here, and the promise finds its meaning and fulfillment in Christ Jesus. Through faith in him, not through our biological lineage, we are made part of the inheritance of God.

As you step out today, in Christ Jesus, you have access to the generational blessing through faith. If you have not given your life to Christ, it is important that you do it today, so that you, too, can have access to the generational blessing that God has promised through Abraham. Remember that alignment impacts future generations.

PRAYER: Our Father, we thank you for saying that through your promise to Abraham, we also have access to the blessings of salvation and redemption. Help us to never give up on the promises you made. Help our generations yet unborn to embrace the blessing of salvation in Christ Jesus, Amen.
