TOPIC: “NEHEMIAH’S FOCUS DESPITE DISTRACTIONS”
TEXT: Nehemiah 4:1-6
MEMORY VERSE: “But it came to pass, that when Sanballat heard that we builded the wall, he was wroth, and took great indignation, and mocked the Jews.” Nehemiah 4:1
In the next two weeks, we will be looking at Jeremiah’s leadership style and faithfulness in aligning with the will of God for his life and the nation of Israel. He demonstrated courage, determination and focus despite distractions. Proverbs 4:25-27 says, “Let thine eyes look right on and let thine eyelids look straight before thee. Ponder the path of thy feet and let all thy ways be established. Turn not to the right hand nor to the left: Remove thy foot from evil.”
We all have Sanballat and Tobiah in our lives. These are desperate and dangerous antagonists who are determined to stop us from fulfilling God’s purpose for our lives or carrying out the assignments that the Lord has given us. Why are they so antagonistic? Why are they so desperate to stop us using despicable means? What did we do wrong to attract such ferocious opposition?
It’s primarily the work of Satan. The enemies are essentially agents of Satan, but if we remain focused, we shall triumph over all enemies.
1 John 4:4 says, “Ye are of God, little children and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.”
You are ‘more than conquerors through Him that loves’ you.
PRAYER: Father help me to give priority to your Kingdom and especially your purpose and assignments for my life. Help me to remain focused, no matter what distractions Satan may bring, that I may triumph over him even as Christ did on the cross of Calvary, making a public show of him (the devil), Amen.
