Topic:  “The Power of Christ’s death in our relationship ”

Text: Roman 12:9-16

Memory Verse: John 15:12 – “This is my commandment that ye love one another as I have loved you”.

Scholars always say that man is a social animal. In other words, we were not made to be alone. There is a close connection between our need for richer human relationships and our need for intimacy with God. Each one, both our relationship with people and with God reinforces the other. If we find it hard to form lasting relationships with those around us that we see, how then can it be easy for us to have an in-depth relationship with God that we cannot see? Let us look at it in a different way; can we possibly have a warm relationship with God if our relationships with other people are at rock bottom?

Many people today are without friends and subsequently without God. Our woundedness arises almost without exception from poor or inadequate relationships; adequate relationships between husband and wife, between co-worshipers in the church, between father and children, between mother and children, between neighbours. We need each other and yet we so readily wound each other.

Jesus said in John 13:34, “a new commandant I give unto you that you love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another”.

In this wicked and wretched world of hatred, envy, wickedness and strife, can we truly say that we can obey this commandment? Yes, we can through the power that emanates from the cross of Calvary. It is only His death and our belief in His abundant Grace through the blood that He shed that we can accomplish and obey His commandment. Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith, all things are possible.

PRAYER: Lord Jesus, please give me the enablement to obey your commandment to love my neighour as myself through the blood that you shed on the cross of calvary, Amen.
