JUNE 7 “The power of Christ’s death over barrenness “

One of the most terrible things that sin brought unto the world is barrenness. When God created man in the book of Genesis, He blessed man and said “be fruitful and multiply and replenish the earth” God purposed in His heart that the replenishment of the earth will be through procreation by the coming together of a man and a woman. However, when Satan came with his deceit, he spoilt the whole plan of God for the human race. He introduced a lot of wicked things that did not work in tandem with the plan of God.

Barrenness was one of the things he introduced. Barrenness means not being able to produce children. A woman that is not able to produce children is said to be barren. If a woman does not produce children how then can she fulfil the mandate of God to replenish the earth?

The plague of barrenness came into the world as a consequence of one man’s sin. When Adam and Eve fell, a curse was placed on them in Genesis 3:16 “unto the woman he said, I will greatly multiply thy sorrow and thy conception; in sorrow thou shall bring forth children and thy desire shall be to thy husband and he shall rule over thee”. The word sorrow does not just mean the sorrow and pain of labour during childbirth, but also that many will weep and sorrow before conception.

This was the setting before Christ came and died to redeem us from the power and consequences of sin.  Unto Him was given the power to open and close anything. He has the power to open wombs. The coming and death of Jesus signaled the restoration of beauty to man, because He paid the ultimate price for our redemption from the consequences of sin by His atoning death.

Are you barren? Or is any of your loved ones barren? There is a way out. Your predicament is not above what Jesus can do. Nothing is impossible for Him to do. Come to Him in faith and your closed door will be opened. He has since paid the ultimate price for you to be fruitful.

PRAYER: Lord Jesus, I come to you this morning in total reliance upon your word. Believing that you can do all things and that nothing is impossible for you. You open doors that had hitherto been closed. Please open my hitherto closed doors, I pray in your precious name, Amen.
