Topic: “ The power of Christ’s death over lack ”
Text: 2 Corinthians 9:6-15
Memory Verse: 3 John 2 – “Beloved I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health even as thy soul prospereth”.
Lack is a terrible thing. Lack means the state of not having at all, or not having enough. It can mean lack of food, money, good health or any of the essentials of life. Lack can be used interchangeably with poverty. The question is, is it the will of God for us to be poor or to lack? To live in poverty or lack? The answer is capital NO.
From our memory verse of today we can affirm that there are two important aspects of our life that God is really interested in. One is that we should prosper, the second is that we should be in good health. Today we shall look at the issue of prospering while we will by the grace of God look at the issue of our health tomorrow.
Poverty or lack is not Godly at all because our God is a God of perfection, He created all things good and perfect. Poverty or lack connotes imperfection which is ungodly. 2 Corinthians 9:8 states, “And God is able to make all grace abound toward you, that you, always having all sufficiency in all things may abound to every good work”. Galatians 3:14 also says, “that the blessing of Abraham might come to the Gentiles through Jesus Christ that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith”.
The Bible makes it clear to us that it is not the plan of God for us to lack any good thing. He has made provision for us to have sufficiency in all things just as Abraham had. Abraham was rich in everything. We never read in the Bible that he lacked anything after God blessed Him. Through the power of the death of Jesus, we have become due for the blessing of God like Abraham. It has become our inheritance.
PRAYER: Father, you have promised to provide for all my needs according to your riches in Glory by Christ Jesus. I pray this morning that you will meet me at every point of my need. Let lack and poverty be far from me, Amen.
