MARCH 10: STARTING WELL AND FINISHING STRONG

DATE: Tuesday, 10 March 2026
TOPIC: “STARTING WELL AND FINISHING STRONG”
TEXT: John 4:27-34
MEMORY VERSE:  “Jesus said to them, “My food is to do the will of him who sent me and to accomplish his work” – John 4:34 (ESV).

There is nothing as good as starting a project and finishing it. This gives you a sense of accomplishment and joy of fulfillment. God is not the author of unaccomplished projects. Whatever He embarks upon, He accomplishes; therefore, He is always excited with individuals who possess accomplishing spirits. These are those who will not give up until they are done with a given assignment or task. Jesus our perfect example knows the assignment God has given Him and He ensures He partners with God to bring it to accomplishment.

The text under consideration today gives the account of Jesus who was tired, worn out and hungry. Upon seeing a soul to be won for the Lord, He became suddenly re-energized and full which made the disciples curious and concerned about His welfare. The disciples went to get something for Jesus to eat while He rested a little in their absence. To their amazement, Jesus was not resting when they returned, He was engaging a Samaritan woman in a deep conversation that made the disciples unable to interfere. They expected Him to eat immediately they returned because they left Him hungry, but they were shocked that He did not mention food or complain about hunger. His response to their concern was that His food is to do the will of Him who sent Him and to finish His work.

Jesus was sensitive to divine assignment, the timing and the finishing of that assignment. It was a curious moment for the town of Samaria, and He did not want to miss it because of the need to rest and eat. For Him, rest and food must wait if that is what it will cost Him to finish His work. The task to reach Samaria for the Lord and to finish it was His priority. It takes a man who walks in alignment with God to be able to discern divine timing and accurately carry out the assignment within the stipulated time frame.

PRAYER: Father, help me to start well and finish strong the race that you have set before me in Jesus’ name, Amen.
