Topic: “GOD’S THOUGHTS: OUR PROSPERITY – I HAVE MORE THAN ENOUGH“
Text: Psalm 23:1-6
Memory Verse: “Because the Lord is my Shepherd, I have everything I need!” Psalm 23:1.
A good shepherd invests his life to care for, guide, protect his flock and generally ensure their safety against the elements and other predator animals. David describes this vividly in 1Sam 17:34-36, “I have been taking care of my father’s sheep and goats. “When a lion or a bear comes to steal a lamb from the flock, I go after it with a club and rescue the lamb from its mouth. If the animal turns on me, I catch it by the jaw and club it to death….”
David acknowledges that he could only do this by the power of God. In our text for today, David celebrates his confidence in the power of God to provide and care for Him.
The Lord is my shepherd; I have all that I need.
He lets me rest in green meadows; he leads me beside peaceful streams.
He renews my strength. He guides me along right paths, bringing honor to his name.
Even when I walk through the darkest valley, I will not be afraid, for you are close beside me.
Your rod and your staff protect and comfort me.
You prepare a feast for me in the presence of my enemies.
You honor me by anointing my head with oil. My cup overflows with blessings.
Surely your goodness and unfailing love will pursue me all the days of my life,
and I will live in the house of the Lord forever.
Have you experienced God as the good Shepherd? Try Him today.
PRAYER: O Lord, help me to hear your voice and follow you as the good shepherd in Jesus’ name, Amen.
