Topic: “GOD’S LOVE IN CREATING HUMANITY”
Text: GENESIS 1:26-30; 2:7, 2:18-22
Memory Verse: Genesis 1:26 – “Then God said, ‘Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion….’”
God’s love is evident in the intimate act of creating humanity. Only man was created to be like God among all the creatures. This loving act of God was before man was created, so man did nothing to qualify for such goodness. Man, both male and female, was crafted specially to reflect the image and likeness of God and have dominion over all other creations (Genesis 1:26).
This makes us so special. We are love-made! God is secure enough to allow man to share in His likeness here on earth. He wants us to share in His communicable attributes such as love, goodness, wisdom, peace, holiness, mercy, truthfulness and so on. He created us in love and by love so that we can share the same love with humanity.
As recipients of God’s love, we must show the same love to others. Genesis 2:7, 22 says, “Then the Lord God formed a man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being… The Lord God made a woman from the rib he had taken out of the man, and he brought her to the man.” He formed Adam from the dust and breathed life into him, a personal and loving gesture. He also created Eve, ensuring that Adam would not be alone.
This act of creating humans for relationship and companionship underscores God’s desire for us to live in community and love. So, how does knowing that God personally created you have impact on your view of yourself? What steps can you take to deepen your relationships with others, reflecting God’s love?
PRAYER: Lord, thank You for creating me with such care and intention. Help me to remember that I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Teach me to foster loving relationships that reflect Your desire for companionship and community in Jesus’ name, Amen.
