OCTOBER 05: “GOD’S PROMISE TO NOAH”

The fall of man did much damage to humanity, so much that humanity by nature and behaviour became the enemy of God. It became so bad that the bible says, “Then the Lord saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every intent of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. And the Lord was sorry that He had made man on the earth, and He was grieved in His heart. So the Lord said, ‘I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth, both man and beast, creeping thing and birds of the air, for I am sorry that I have made them’” (Genesis 6:5-7).

However, in the midst of God’s anger, His loving eye spotted a man called Noah. Genesis 6:8 says, “But Noah found grace in the eyes of the Lord.” Therefore, God began to speak to him to prepare an Ark of safety due to the great flood that was to come upon the earth. Take note that this righteous judgment is still an act of God’s love, because sin is against the wellbeing of humanity. God will always judge sin so He can preserve the humanity He created in love. The great flood came upon the earth (Genesis 7) but Noah and his household was preserved (Genesis 8).

After the flood, God made a covenant with Noah, symbolized by the rainbow (Genesis 9:12-13). This promise not to destroy the earth with a flood again is a powerful reminder of God’s commitment to humanity and His creation. The rainbow serves as a sign of God’s enduring love and faithfulness, a promise of hope and restoration. How can you remind yourself of God’s promises in your daily life?

PRAYER: Faithful God, thank You for Your promises and the signs of Your love that surround me. Help me to trust in Your faithfulness and remember that You are always with me, offering hope and restoration in Jesus’ name, Amen.
