Topic: “GOD’S CALL TO ABRAHAM”
Text: GENESIS 12:1-9
Memory Verse: Genesis 12:1 – “The Lord had said to Abram, ‘Go from your country, your people and your father’s household to the land I will show you.’”
God is the initiator of every divine-human relationship. God initiated the creation of man in Genesis 1:26, and since then has been the perpetual initiator of loving relationships with humanity. The self-giving nature of God motivates His self-revealing nature too. He reveals Himself to humanity and enables us to walk with Him. We can only find God because He has found us. It is God who put in us the longing to seek Him. Jesus said, “No one can come to Me unless the Father who sent Me draws him; and I will raise him up at the last day” (John 6:44).
God’s call to Abraham is a profound expression of His love, not just for Abraham, but also for all humanity. The Bible is full of stories of how God’s loving eye keeps searching for unqualified men from unlikely backgrounds and then singles them out for enviable lifting. None of us qualifies to be called children of God and to be used of God in wonderful ways, but His love has found us. Hallelujah!!! The voice of God is still calling out to people today, both to salvation and to service. Have you responded to the call of God over your life?
Abraham’s call was not only to be blessed but to be a blessing also. God desires to reach out to everyone with His love and blessings, and you are the channel of His love and blessings. In what ways can you be a blessing to others as part of God’s greater plan?
PRAYER: Lord, thank You for Your promises and the example of Abraham’s faith. Help me to trust in Your plans for my life and to be a blessing to those around me. May I always remember that Your love extends to all people in Jesus’ name, Amen.
