Topic: Experiencing the fullness of God through Continuous Prayers 3
Text: Ephesians 1: 15- 17
Memory Verse: “Ephesians 1: 17a I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation……
In continuation of the revelation about Paul the Apostle as a very fervent intercessor, today we look at what was the content of his prayers for the believers in Ephesus. In our text, Paul asked God for two things. He said “may (He) give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation…” In the first prayer, he was asking that God would give them wisdom. Wisdom in this context means prudence, that is, the ability to discern modes of action with a view to their result. Because they were now the carriers of the fullness of God, they needed wisdom, so they would not misapply the fullness of God that they carry.
We need God’s wisdom, so we do not pursue what men approved, but always be found doing what God approves. Paul was praying that at all times, the Ephesian believers will put to practice all they know about God. It is only then that the investment of His fullness in them will bear fruit. On the other hand, Paul’s prayer also implies that he was praying that the Ephesian believers would have the spirit of Jesus because wisdom is personified in Him. As you step out today, follow the admonition of James who said in James 1: 5 that “If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.”
Prayer: Heavenly Father, you are the wisdom of God revealed to us, may you increase in us daily, and may you release upon us, that ability to live out the life of Christ in us in wisdom in Jesus’ name we pray.
