Topic: Experiencing the fullness of God at the Appointed Time
Text: Galatians 4:1-5
Memory Verse: Galatians 4:4 “But when the fullness of the time came, God sent forth His Son, born of a woman, born under the Law”
Warren Wiersbe, once said that “God can grow a mushroom overnight, but He will take time to grow an oak or a giant sequoia.” This show to us that our God is the one in control of time. That is why Solomon said in Ecc. 3:11 that “He hath made everything beautiful in his time.”
We live in a generation that wants things done very fast. Speed becomes the measure we use to measure success. If something can be accomplished quickly, more satisfaction or reward is attained. In our text for today, Paul was calling the attention of believers to the truth that something will not happen until the fullness of time is accomplished. When God made the promise of redeeming the people, it took God to subject His son to the process of time. There was nothing, anyone could do, Jesus was conceived in the womb, and He spent nine months in the womb. We cannot hasten what God is doing, if the time is not yet fully come, nothing happens. That means we have to learn to wait, we have to learn to be patient when we are trusting God for anything.
As we step out today, remember the word of Warren Wiersbe who said, “The best thing you and I can do is to stop looking at our watches and calendars and simply look by faith into the face of God and let Him have His way in His time.” Our God is the promise keeper, wait for Him.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, we thank you because you are the one who is in control of our time. With you, we can never be late. Help us to trust you when all else fails and nothing seems to be happening. Help us to be urgent about making an effort and help us to be patient about seeing the result. In Jesus’ name, amen.
